A call to history enthusiasts!

When we talk about Canadian and Quebec heritage, we tend to think of buildings, furniture, accessories, and so on, but rarely of the weapons used by our country's soldiers and settlers. Yet, these weapons were the first witnesses to our history. As a collector and dealer in antique arms, I have made it my mission to promote the military and armed heritage of our colonial past, in collaboration with other collectors who choose to invest in acquiring a historical weapon with the commitment to take the utmost care of it.

Together, we invest in acquiring weapons from our colonial history in order to research their provenance and use, restore them to their original condition, and exhibit them at gun shows, for some, or at historical reenactments, for others.

I am therefore appealing to history enthusiasts who would like to participate in creating a catalogue showcasing weapons from my collection and those from the collections of collaborators. The idea is to gather as many high-quality historical descriptions as possible on a single website, making them accessible to everyone.

I suggest we start with a first weapon, which I'll present in this post. I invite internet users to send me the results of their research on its origin, its use, its presence in battles, and so on. Once validated, the information will be published in a special section of the website www.expoantique.net.

As this is a pilot project, we will take the opportunity to refine our processes and the framework for exchanges. This will allow us to gauge the interest of internet users in contributing and establish rules, if necessary.
