An interesting percussion pistol made in Liège, typical of Belgian artisanal production in the mid-19th century. The weapon features a back-action lock, a configuration widely used in Liège for civilian firearms intended for the domestic market and export.
The stock is made of walnut, fitted with brass furniture including the trigger guard, butt cap, and muzzle cap. The smoothbore barrel is mounted without military sights, confirming its civilian use. The lock plate bears the "P&M" hallmark, most likely corresponding to a workshop or assembler, a common practice in the Liège gunmaking industry of the time.
The piece exhibits a uniform patina, with wear consistent with its age, showing no signs of modern restoration or alteration. This type of pistol was commonly used as a personal weapon (on a belt or coat) and today stands as a representative and honest example of 19th-century Belgian civilian weaponry.
Weapon sold as a collector's item.
