 British Baker Model 1806 Rifle

Replica of the legendary flintlock musket used by the British 95th British Rifle Regiment (riflemen).

Replica of the famous Baker flintlock rifle, based on an 1806 model, used by the British Army Rifle Corps (the sharpshooters, later known as Green Jackets for their green uniforms) during the Napoleonic Wars, when they were simply called the 95th Foot Regiment.

In 1798, master gunsmith Ezequiel Baker was tasked with designing a new weapon for this newly formed corps. Two years and several trials later, the Baker rifle entered production. The design featured a 76 cm barrel with seven rectangular rifling grooves to impart spin to the projectile, thus improving flight stability. Thanks to this rifled bore, the Baker proved to be a long-range rifle of extraordinary accuracy. For decades, this weapon was used not only by British marksmen but also by American and foreign regiments allied with the British Army. This model had a 16.6 mm caliber.

Inspired by the Prussian Jäger , the Baker features a simple folding rear sight alongside the standard large wrench, with a gooseneck hammer. It had an elongated brass trigger guard for a firm grip and a cheekpiece on the left side of the stock. Like many other rifles of the period, it had a reservoir in the stock for storing nails and greased cloth tools, which in other replicas is only simulated, but in this one, it is fully functional and can be opened by levering the brass cap, which rotates on the hinge at the rear and opens upwards. The stock and fore-end are made of wood, with the barrel secured to them by three flat blocks.

The lock plate is engraved with the legendary "TOWER" stamp and the crown with the letters "GR," a detail highly prized by collectors and reenactors. The hammer is fully actuated and moves into its three positions—rest, load, and fire—when activated by the trigger. Equipped with flintlocks (not included), it will produce good sparks on the bowl. It has a functional action and appearance. The bayonet lug is perfectly reproduced.

Bernard Cornwell, the famous author of the novel Sharpe's Rifles, owns this replica.

Our replica firearms are intended for decoration or reenactment purposes. The aperture has not been drilled, so it is an inert, non-functional replica of a weapon. However, it is ready to be modified by a specialized gunsmith and made legal in your country of residence.

A beautiful object highly prized by the most expert collectors and an indispensable accessory for reenactors of the Napoleonic campaigns.
