Part of the next generation of artists, already recognized by many art lovers, the self-taught Robert Lévesque brings to the current panorama of Quebec painting a style and a particular quality for shapes and colors.

Born in New Richmond in Gaspésie in 1949, Robert Lévesque grew up in an environment where art and culture were not particularly favored.

Upon his arrival in Quebec at the start of his adolescence, he became friends with a group of young painters and became a student of the painter and sculptor Maurice Acier, who passed on his own passion to him. Fascinated by this universe, Robert Levesque discovered, through his own learning of the technique and in the exaltation of his sensitivity, the infinite play of shadows, shapes, color and light.

Passionate about art in all its forms, he devoted himself to drawing, painting and photography. He frequented artistic circles and did not hesitate to learn from the artists of the time. He was particularly fond of the creations of members of the ''Refus Global'' movement including Paul Émile Borduas, Marcelle Ferron, Marcel Gauvreau and Jean-Paul Riopelle...

Like many other artists, he had to embark on a career first in private business and then as a senior official in the Quebec public service. Always in love with art, he became a collector and never strayed from his true passion.

In 2009, after a long career as a manager, he took up spatulas and brushes again and his workshop became a true space of freedom. Night after night he develops his style, moving from brushes to knives, constantly digging into his emotions. His gaze becomes clearer, the colors and shapes take on meaning.

From that moment, friends and fans discovered the artist and recognized an immense and particularly promising talent. His workshop will become a showcase which has continued to be visited ever since.
