Double-barreled percussion pocket pistol by Williams & Powell – Liverpool (England), circa 1835–1855
An authentic English-made percussion pocket pistol, attributed to the firm of Williams & Powell, gunsmiths established in Liverpool in the mid-19th century. This compact model, designed for personal defense, is characteristic of the discreet civilian firearms produced for the British urban market. The weapon is equipped with two short, smoothbore barrels mounted side by side, each operated by its own trigger, allowing for two successive shots. It features an external percussion hammer, a strongly curved "bag grip" style grip, and fine, discreet English engraving on the frame. The barrel is marked "… Powell Liverpool," a marking consistent with known productions of this firm.
The piece retains a consistent antique patina, without any signs of modern restoration. The overall condition is good for a weapon of this type and period, with normal wear consistent with age and use. A representative and sought-after example of British percussion pocket pistols.
